Peter Barber FCA started his accountancy career in West London and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983. Having been a partner in two firms of Chartered Accountants, one in London's West End and the other in the City of London, Peter started Barber & Co in 1990. Peter continued in general practice whilst developing specific areas of expertise to include complex personal taxation situations and enquiries, inheritance and other tax planning and business management and development.

Christopher Horsley BSc (HONS), FCA graduated in 1986 and started his accountancy career in London's West End the same year. Chris qualified as a Chartered Accountant within the general practice division of an international firm based in the City of London in 1992 and joined Barber & Co later that year. Chris became a partner of Barber & Co in 1995. As with each of the partners, Chris has continued in the general practice environment whilst developing specific areas of expertise, which include audit, management consultancy, corporate tax enquiries and tax planning.

Martin Allen BSc (HONS), FCCA After graduating and working in a variety of accounting and finance roles Martin joined the firm in 2000, qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2004 and became a Partner in 2008. Martin oversees a portfolio of corporate, partnership and sole trader clients as a general practitioner and he has developed expertise in corporate and personal tax planning, VAT, management reporting, payroll services and workplace pension regulation. He is further developing his expertise in estate planning and employment regulation.

Jonathan James BSc (HONS), FCA joined the firm in 2009, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2014 and became a Director in 2023. Jonathan oversees a portfolio consisting of business owners and high net worth individuals as a general practitioner and has developed expertise in Self-Assessment, capital gains tax reporting, taxation of trusts & estates and making tax digital. He is further developing his expertise in personal tax planning, estate planning, and complex tax enquiries.

Michael Chapman BA (HONS), FCA joined the firm in 2010, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2015 and became a Director in 2023. Michael oversees a portfolio of corporate, partnership and sole trader clients as a general practitioner and has developed expertise in bookkeeping and accounts, cloud accounting, VAT, audit and making tax digital. He is further developing his expertise in personal tax planning, charity accounts and management accounting.

Kapilesan Nadeswaran BA (HONS), ACCA joined the firm in 2021 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2021. Kapilesan oversees a portfolio of corporate, partnership and sole trader clients as a general practitioner and has developed expertise in bookkeeping and accounts, cloud accounting, VAT and making tax digital. He is further developing his expertise in audit, personal tax planning and management accounting.

Luxanan Vengadeswaran BSc (HONS) joined the firm as a Trainee Accountant in 2024. Luxanan assists the rest of the team in all areas whilst studying towards his ACA qualification.

Alison McKelvey joined Barber & Co as a part-time Secretary/Administrator back in September 2007 providing secretarial support to the Partners and Accounts Team. Over the past 16 years Alison has progressed through the company developing new skills. Alison was promoted to Office Manager in 2017 and is responsible for the general running of the office together with the Management of the Payroll which the company provides to over 70 clients. Alison provides support to the Directors and works closely with the Admin Team to ensure that the clients receive an efficient and professional service.

Samantha Quinlan originally joined Barber & Co in 2017 working within the administration team to provide support to the directors. Sam progressed within the company to work alongside the office manager providing full administration support, including the processing of payroll and pensions, for over 70 clients.

Gaynor Scott joined the admin team in 2019 working closely with the directors to provide secretarial and administrative support.

Natalie Morris joined Barber & Co in 2021 working with the administration team providing support to the directors, office manager and payroll team.

Julie Wheeler joined Barber & Co as a Bookkeeper when the company was set up in 1990.

Sarah Martin joined Barber and Co February 2005 as a Bookkeeper, a role that now incorporates Management Accounts for some of the clients.
